Igboho pledges to continue fight against criminals in South-West

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says his Iru Ekun Security Network will continue its campaign against criminal groups in south-western Nigeria. He made the pledge during the network’s launch in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

Igboho said kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes had recently declined in Yorubaland because the police, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services and other security agencies had provided tactical support to Iru Ekun. He described security as a collective responsibility that crosses political, ethnic and religious divisions.

He also said the network would not stop until forests, highways and farming communities across the region were safe.

Igboho urged the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to receive support for its security efforts, saying effective security was necessary for the development of the South-West and other parts of Nigeria. He told volunteers to notify the police and other relevant agencies whenever they identified bandits on highways connecting Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states, or other criminals in their communities.

He cautioned volunteers against confronting criminals without notifying security agencies. “Be proactive by not sparing any armed bandits because if you hesitate in taking action, you may be shot dead by these deadly criminals,” he said. He referred to the recent death of one member in Iwere Ile during a gun battle with armed bandits and told volunteers to remain alert.
