IHG Fiji Hotels Donate $11,000 to Diabetes Fiji

IHG Fiji Hotels, owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), has donated $11,000 to Diabetes Fiji to bolster community health initiatives. The funds will support vital programs including health screenings, diabetes education, and ongoing care for individuals at risk or living with the disease.

The fundraising campaign, the hotels' first for Diabetes Fiji, took place throughout June. Proceeds from coffee sales every Friday at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva contributed to the total donation. This initiative highlights the hotels' commitment to extending health services to communities across Fiji.

Lachlan Walker, IHG Regional General Manager for Fiji and the Pacific, emphasized the importance of employee well-being within the hospitality industry. He noted that this partnership also allows the hotels to contribute to essential health services for communities throughout Fiji.

As part of the initiative, Diabetes Fiji conducted a three-day wellness screening for hotel staff at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. The screenings included assessments for blood sugar, blood pressure, BMI, nutrition, and mental health. Diabetes Fiji Executive Director Marawa Kini expressed gratitude, stating the donation will significantly enhance the organization's capacity to deliver diabetes prevention, screening, education, and support services across the nation.
