Đilas's criminal complaint against Šapić for threats dismissed

A criminal complaint filed by Dragan Đilas, leader of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), against Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić has been dismissed. The complaint stemmed from threatening messages Šapić allegedly sent to Đilas via WhatsApp.

According to the SSP, the messages included severe profanity and explicit threats, such as "I will personally f*** you up for this. I swear on my life I will f*** you up for this when I get out of this. I will find you personally when you least expect it."

Prosecutor Marija Nikolić ruled that these words did not constitute a criminal threat, suggesting Đilas could pursue a civil case for insult instead. The SSP expressed strong criticism of this decision, questioning how such language could be deemed non-threatening and what would happen if Šapić acted on his promises.

The SSP also raised concerns about other pending complaints, including an alleged assault on Đilas and another party member by a group of hooligans, and an attack on a Serbian Parliament member. They questioned the lack of action on these cases and vowed that those responsible would eventually be held accountable.
