İmamoğlu: 'Stagnant, power-obsessed mentality gambles with your lives'

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has issued a strong appeal to Turkey's youth, criticizing the current administration's leadership and policies. In a video message shared via social media, İmamoğlu described the government as a "stagnant, outdated, arrogant, and power-obsessed mentality" that is gambling with citizens' lives for its own survival. He warned that this approach is creating a "modern slavery system" for young people, leaving them feeling hopeless and without a future. İmamoğlu highlighted pressing issues such as the housing crisis, with young people unable to afford rent or establish homes, contributing to an unsafe environment. He asserted that the feeling of weariness, helplessness, and poverty experienced by the youth is not accidental but a deliberately created system. "Fear, anxiety, doubt, worry are not a coincidence; it is a consciously created system," he stated. The mayor urged young people not to let their fate be determined by the "1100-room palace," but rather by their "free minds, talents, and diligent hands." He called for active participation in the struggle for justice and dignity, standing alongside students facing hardship and workers struggling to make ends meet. İmamoğlu emphasized the need to unite against a "selfish system" that divides people, advocating for the construction of a future based on a new social contract. He envisions a Turkey that upholds its republic, strengthens democracy, and enforces the rule of law, leading to shared prosperity and equitable distribution of wealth. He promised to initiate an era that empowers youth, supports entrepreneurship, and ensures justice for all, replacing the current political atmosphere with one that is "young, new generation, transparent, and accountable."
