IMGW warnings for almost all of Poland. Heat will be greatest in these regions

Much of Poland is bracing for intense heat as shallow low-pressure systems influence weather in eastern, northern, and southwestern Europe, while a large high-pressure area dominates the continent, including Poland. Warm, maritime polar air is flowing in from the west, bringing significant temperature increases.

On Thursday, skies will be mostly clear with some moderate cloud cover, especially in the northeast. Maximum temperatures will range from 24-25 degrees Celsius in Suwałki and Podhale, around 30 degrees in the center and southeast, and soar to 34 degrees Celsius in western Poland, particularly in the Lubuskie Voivodeship. Coastal areas will be cooler, around 22-23 degrees. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the northwest and west.

Friday is forecast to be sunny and almost cloudless, with maximum temperatures across most of the country ranging from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius. The west will be the hottest, with Warsaw reaching 32 degrees. Cooler temperatures around 27 degrees are expected in the northeast, parts of Pomerania, and Podhale, while the coast will see around 20 degrees Celsius.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued Level 2 heat warnings for numerous voivodeships, including zachodniopomorskie, lubuskie, dolnośląskie, opolskie, śląskie, małopolskie, podkarpackie, wielkopolskie, kujawsko-pomorskie, łódzkie, mazowieckie, świętokrzyskie, and lubelskie. These warnings are in effect until Saturday morning but are expected to continue at a higher level. Temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius are anticipated to persist at least until Monday, with Sunday potentially reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius in western Poland. IMGW advises the public to wear light, breathable clothing, use head protection, stay hydrated, and seek shade.
