Impressive Rainfall in Parts of Lithuania, Thunderstorms Recorded

Lithuania experienced a significant amount of rainfall in a 24-hour period, with some regions receiving precipitation equivalent to nearly two weeks' worth of rain. Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, areas like Pakruojis recorded 38.5 mm of rain, which is approximately 62% of the total June rainfall norm. Kaunas was close behind with 36.9 mm, or 58% of its monthly norm.

Other locations also saw substantial rainfall, including Kalvarija (35.4 mm), Šiauliai (28.8 mm), and Kazlų Rūda (28 mm). This intense downpour was accompanied by a high frequency of lightning, with meteo.lt reporting 4,649 lightning discharges across Lithuania from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning.

Despite the stormy conditions, the weather is expected to improve over the weekend. Sunday is forecast to bring clear or partly cloudy skies in the morning, with any early fog expected to dissipate quickly. While the morning will be cool, daytime temperatures are predicted to rise to a warm 21-26 degrees Celsius. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon, particularly in western regions, but overall, the weather is expected to be calm and warm.
