Lawmakers in Kyrgyzstan's Jogorku Kenesh are once again drawing attention to the neglected state of Bishkek's beloved Karagachevy Grove, urging authorities to take concrete action. Deputy Ismanali Zhoroev voiced his frustration that previous calls to address the park's deteriorating condition have gone unanswered by local self-government bodies.

Zhoroev emphasized the critical need to prepare Karagachevy Grove and its adjacent lakes, Komosomolskoye and Pionerskoye, for the upcoming summer season. As a major recreational hub for thousands of Bishkek residents, including children, the park requires thorough cleaning and maintenance. The deputy stressed that ensuring the safety of citizens by maintaining the quality of water in the lakes is paramount.

Beyond its recreational value, Karagachevy Grove plays a vital ecological role, regulating the microclimate of northern Bishkek and acting as a buffer against dust. Zhoroev highlighted that the park's environmental significance is matched by the alarming state of the Big Chuy Canal, which flows alongside it. The canal's banks are uncleaned, littered with debris, and its concrete structures are damaged, posing a risk to public safety and the environment.

The deputy's call for action includes a proposal to clean and restore the canal before water is released for the season.
