Indecopi warns of electric shock risk from certain SAMMIC portable blenders

Consumers in Peru who own SAMMIC portable blenders are urged to check for a safety alert issued by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property (Indecopi). The warning concerns a potential fault in the insulation system of specific models that could lead to electric shocks.

The manufacturer identified that the issue might allow external metal parts to contact internal electrical components. This poses a risk of electric shock during operation. As a preventative measure, SAMMIC has announced a no-cost campaign to rectify the problem.

The alert specifically covers 24 professional portable electric blenders from SAMMIC, including models XM-21, XM-22, MB-21, MB-22, B-20, MM-20, MM-20V, XM-31, XM-32, XM-33, MB-31, B-30, MM-30, and MM-30V. These units may have an internal insulation deficiency that compromises their electrical safety. Indecopi is disseminating this information to inform the public about the potential risk, covering products distributed in Peru, including those bought secondhand.

SAMMIC will provide a free replacement of an internal component with an upgraded version to enhance safety, without altering the blender's performance. Users can verify if their appliance is part of the recall by visiting the company's dedicated portal. If their product is affected, they should contact their point of purchase for arrangements.
