India and Kuwait Hold First Joint Defense Committee Meeting

India and Kuwait have taken a significant step to bolster their defense ties by holding the inaugural Joint Defense Committee meeting in New Delhi. The two countries committed to deepening cooperation in critical areas such as military training, joint exercises, military medicine, defense industries, and research and development.

This meeting serves as a crucial step in operationalizing the Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation, signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait in December 2014. The collaboration signifies a growing momentum in India-Kuwait relations, particularly after their ties were elevated to a strategic partnership.

The Indian delegation included senior officials from the armed forces, defense production, R&D, and external affairs. The Kuwaiti delegation, led by Brigadier General Raed Al-Sakran, explored practical cooperation avenues with Indian defense industry representatives. Brigadier General Al-Sakran also paid respects at the National War Memorial, honoring Indian soldiers.

This defense dialogue adds a new dimension to the long-standing bilateral relationship, extending cooperation beyond traditional economic and social ties into defense, security, technology, and military collaboration.
