India Parliament Monsoon Session: Anti-Paper Leak Bill, SC Judges Bill on Agenda

India's Parliament is poised for a busy legislative session on Monday, July 27, 2026, with a packed agenda in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The government aims to advance key bills, including a strengthened anti-paper leak law and amendments concerning Supreme Court judges.

In the Lok Sabha, Union minister Jitendra Singh is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026. This legislation seeks to amend the existing Act of 2024, tightening the legal framework against unfair means in public examinations, a move prompted by recent paper leak controversies that have drawn significant scrutiny.

The Lok Sabha will also consider the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, which Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will move for consideration. However, this bill is expected to face opposition, with MPs planning to move a statutory resolution disapproving the ordinance previously promulgated on the same subject.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up a bill to amend the law on the prevention of insults to national honor. The agenda also includes the tabling of various reports by the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers, covering topics like medicine price rises and the disinvestment of fertilizer public sector undertakings. Several ministers are also slated to lay official papers before the House, with Minister of State Suresh Gopi set to make eight separate statements on committee recommendation implementation.
