India's Vice President honours Nepali musician Saurav Sharma

Young Nepali musician Saurav Sharma was honored with the Youth Goodwill Ambassador Honour at the MALHAR 2026 event in New Delhi, India. Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan presented the award on August 21, recognizing Sharma's contributions to cultural exchange.

The event, organized by the AntarHriday Connect Global Foundation, aimed to connect youth with classical music. Vice President Radhakrishnan congratulated Sharma, stating that young people can act as bridges of friendship between India and other countries through music and culture. He highlighted music as a powerful form of Indian soft power that transcends borders and language.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, a member of the Rajya Sabha and former Foreign Secretary of India, also spoke at the event. He noted Sharma's existing connection with India, mentioning his regular visits and performances at the Sri Sathya Sai Ashram in Puttaparthi.

MALHAR 2026 brought together young audiences and prominent classical artists. Organizers stated that Sharma's award underscores the role of young individuals, music, and culture in reinforcing the long-standing people-to-people and cultural relationships between Nepal and India.
