Indian student, 25, found dead in London; family questions circumstances

The family of S Srinath Reddy, a 25-year-old student from Telangana, India, is grappling with grief and uncertainty after he was found dead in his London accommodation on June 23. Reddy had traveled to the United Kingdom for higher studies approximately 14 months prior to his death.

His father, Madhusudhan Reddy, expressed profound sorrow, stating that the family has not yet received comprehensive details regarding the cause of his son's demise. The family is particularly distressed by the untimely death of their son while he was pursuing his education abroad and has voiced their anguish over the lack of clear information.

According to the family, Srinath Reddy had attended a friend's birthday celebration in London on the evening of June 22. His father recalled speaking with him that same night, during which Srinath sounded normal and cheerful, giving no indication of any impending distress. The family has appealed to both the Indian central government and the Telangana government to intervene, assist in repatriating his body, and coordinate with British authorities to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.

A relative mentioned that Srinath's roommate discovered him deceased on the morning of June 23. The roommate reportedly stated that Srinath had died by suicide by hanging. This relative also claimed the roommate did not immediately inform other friends about the incident, a delay that has raised significant questions and doubts for Srinath's father regarding the sequence of events. London police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter, while the student's death has cast a pall of grief over his family and his home village in Telangana.
