Indictment accepted in singer Güllü's death; trial set for October 1

A Turkish court has accepted an indictment seeking aggravated life imprisonment for Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter, accused of premeditatedly murdering her mother, the singer Güllü. The incident, which occurred in September 2025, involved Güllü falling from a window of her home in Çınarcık.

The indictment details that Güllü fell approximately 18 meters to the concrete ground. While the victim's blood alcohol level was found to be 3.53 promil, with some medications present, the autopsy report concluded that the fall was the cause of death. Investigations into claims of a slippery floor in the room found no chemical residue that would cause such a condition.

Digital evidence, including WhatsApp messages between Gülter and her former boyfriend, has been presented. In these messages, Gülter reportedly expressed extreme frustration with her mother, using phrases like "I'm sick of this mother of mine," "My mother is dead, I swear she's dead," "May she die," and "I will make this woman regret it so much." She also stated, "I am not Güllü's daughter, I am Tuğyan."

Separately, Sultan Nur Ulu, who was present in the house at the time of the incident, faces charges of false testimony for providing inaccurate statements during the initial stages of the investigation. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 1.
