Indio Solari's wake confirmed for Villa Domínico sports center

The public wake for the renowned musician Indio Solari will take place at the Gatica Sports Center in Villa Domínico, located in the Avellaneda district of Argentina. The event is scheduled to begin this Sunday at 11 a.m., with preparations already underway to accommodate an anticipated massive gathering of fans.

This decision follows the widespread outpouring of grief and public assembly that occurred in Plaza de Mayo after the news of Solari's passing was announced. The family of the musician, leader of the iconic band Los Redonditos de Ricota, issued a statement late Friday night confirming the date and expressing gratitude for the public's patience during this difficult time. "Finally, the farewell to Indio will be on Sunday, June 7, to give time for people coming from afar. Thank you for your patience, all of this is very difficult," the statement read.

The Gatica Municipal Sports Center, situated on Avenida Bartolomé Mitre at number 5000, is adjacent to the Parque de los Derechos del Trabajador and the municipal swimming pool. Its proximity to the Villa Domínico station of the Tren Roca line, just four blocks away, is expected to facilitate access for fans traveling from various parts of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). Several bus lines, including 148, 159, 178, 247, 17, 22, 98, and 197, also serve the area.

Earlier considerations included holding the wake at the National Congress. However, Martín Menem, President of the Chamber of Deputies, confirmed that the request was denied. "After the possibility of holding his farewell at the National Congress, the corresponding consultations were made with the Ministry of Security of the Nation and the competent technical areas. It was concluded that the Legislative Palace does not meet the necessary infrastructure, logistical, and security conditions for an event of this magnitude," Menem stated, ruling out that option.
