Indomet warns of Monday rains amid persistent heat

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a forecast for Monday, predicting local showers accompanied by isolated thunderstorms in various parts of the country. These weather conditions are attributed to the moisture associated with a tropical wave and a multi-level trough influencing the troposphere.

Areas expected to experience precipitation include the northeast, southeast, and southwest regions. Specifically, the Greater Santo Domingo, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Vega, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, and Barahona provinces are likely to be affected by the rainfall. Indomet also noted the presence of two disturbances linked to the tropical wave, one of which, located southwest of Cape Verde, has a 20% chance of developing further by mid-next week.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, similar weather patterns are anticipated, with a slightly hazy sky due to Saharan dust particles. Morning showers are expected along the Caribbean coast. Despite the incoming rains, Indomet warns that temperatures will continue to be hot, influenced by moderate concentrations of Saharan dust. The forecast highlights the dynamic weather systems affecting the region, balancing the potential for rain with persistent heat.
