Indonesia condemns Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, backs Jordan's role

Indonesia has strongly condemned what it terms "Zionist Israeli structured violence" and the alleged forceful takeover of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex and surrounding areas in Palestine. The nation characterized the actions, involving Jewish extremist groups and the Israeli military, as a blatant violation of international law.

During a meeting of Foreign Ministers of Arab and Islamic countries in Amman, Jordan, Indonesia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Arrmanatha Nasir, reiterated the country's support for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's role as the custodian of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. "Indonesia condemns and affirms the violence by Israeli citizens and violations of international law by Israel in the Palestinian territories, including in East Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex, and the West Bank," Nasir stated in a press release.

The meeting was initiated by Jordan in response to the escalating crisis in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Recent actions by Israeli figures and government officials have reportedly encouraged extremist Jewish groups and Israeli citizens to forcibly seize Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. These groups, allegedly supported by armed military personnel, have been accused of surrounding and attempting to take control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

These unilateral actions by Israel have reportedly triggered resistance from Palestinians. Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha highlighted Indonesia's deep concern over the increasing movement of Zionist settlements encroaching on holy sites under the escort of soldiers who are supposed to maintain peace.
