Indonesia Finance Minister to Visit China, UK to Promote Debt Instruments

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is set to embark on a promotional tour to China and the United Kingdom in mid-June 2026. The primary objective is to attract global investors to Indonesia's debt instruments, signaling a proactive approach to national financing.

In China, Sadewa will focus on introducing the planned issuance of global bonds denominated in yuan, known as Panda Bonds. This move is part of a broader strategy to diversify the country's funding sources, reducing reliance on any single financing avenue for the state budget (APBN).

Bank Indonesia has expressed support for such instruments denominated in renminbi, viewing them as a means to deepen the domestic foreign exchange market and enhance the liquidity of the Chinese currency locally. This aligns with the central bank's efforts to diversify foreign currency markets.
