Indonesia Launches Second Phase of Teacher Professional Education Program to Accelerate Certification

Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is fast-tracking teacher certification with the second phase of its 2026 Professional Teacher Education (PPG) program. The ministry has called 60,896 teachers nationwide to participate, a move aimed at completing teacher certification across the archipelago.

This call for participants in the second phase of PPG for Specific Teachers is the government's commitment to accelerating the completion of teacher certification in Indonesia. We urge the called teachers to immediately confirm their willingness on their respective SIMPKB accounts.

Teachers eligible for this phase are urged to check their status and confirm their willingness to participate through the Continuous Professional Development Management Information System (SIMPKB). Director of PPG at the ministry, Ferry Maulana Putra, stated that participants are selected based on administrative requirements and come from all regions of Indonesia, including Indonesian schools abroad.

"This call for participants in the second phase of PPG for Specific Teachers is the government's commitment to accelerating the completion of teacher certification in Indonesia," Ferry said. The program's timeline includes confirmation of willingness from June 22-28, 2026, followed by registration from July 1-4, and orientation on July 8. Independent learning will occur on the Ruang GTK platform from July 8 to August 12, culminating in the PPG Participant Competency Test (UKPPPG).

This certificate is a form of recognition for teacher professionalism and one of the requirements for obtaining professional allowances according to applicable regulations.

Upon successful completion, teachers will receive a teaching certificate, which recognizes their professionalism and is a requirement for professional allowances. Data shows West Java has the most participants with 8,565, followed by East Java with 6,548, North Sumatra with 4,425, and Central Java with 3,964. Ferry noted that the high number reflects educators' strong desire to enhance their skills and improve educational services.
