Indonesia Police Distribute Aid, Rebuild Bridge After Aceh Floods

Indonesian police have delivered 1,000 social assistance packages to residents affected by recent floods and landslides in Bireuen, Aceh. The distribution is part of an effort to meet basic needs and speed up recovery in the disaster-stricken region.

Kapolda Aceh Irjen Pol. Ruddi Setiawan handed over the aid to residents on Wednesday, July 22. The National Police's Public Relations Division stated that the assistance demonstrates the police's commitment to the community and strengthens coordination with the local government for faster recovery.

"The handover of this aid is a tangible manifestation of the Polri's presence among the community, while also strengthening collaboration with the local government in accelerating post-disaster recovery," the Public Relations Division wrote on its official account. The division added that the institution remains committed to serving the community through humanitarian activities in affected areas.

Authorities expect the aid distribution to help fulfill essential needs and alleviate the burden on affected residents. The process involves coordination with local governments and officials to ensure effective post-disaster handling. Meanwhile, a 66-meter-long Bailey bridge was also completed in Kuta Blang, replacing a permanent structure destroyed in late November, to reconnect the Banda Aceh-Medan national road and improve logistics.
