Indonesia President sends 50,000 aid packages to earthquake-hit NTT

President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the immediate dispatch of 50,000 aid packages to communities devastated by an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Presidential aid, comprising essential food supplies, is being sent to support those impacted by the disaster.

To ensure a swift and comprehensive response, Prabowo has also assigned key central government officials to travel to Labuan Bajo and Maumere. The delegation includes the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Public Works, and the heads of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

BNPB Head Suharyanto confirmed that the aid packages would be distributed promptly to meet the initial logistical needs of the affected population. The government is also mobilizing additional resources, including food, clean water, and shelter, from surrounding areas. Supplies previously intended for volcanic eruption victims are being redirected to assist earthquake survivors.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, struck NTT on Saturday, prompting tsunami early warnings for several coastal regions. The government's coordinated efforts aim to provide immediate relief and ensure the well-being of all affected residents.
