Indonesia Reports 800,000 Livestock Surplus for Idul Adha Celebration

Indonesia is set to celebrate Idul Adha 1447 Hijriyah with a significant surplus of livestock, ensuring ample availability of sacrificial animals for the religious observance. The Ministry of Agriculture announced that the national supply of animals for sacrifice is estimated at 3.2 million, comfortably exceeding the projected national consumption need of 2.4 million.

This results in a surplus of approximately 800,000 animals, a figure the Ministry of Agriculture's acting deputy minister, Sudaryono, described as a blessing and a sign of the nation's robust livestock sector and stable food security. He stated that this surplus demonstrates the positive trajectory of Indonesia's food availability and overall national condition, countering negative perceptions about the country's situation.

Sudaryono highlighted that the ability to meet and exceed the demand for sacrificial animals without supply shortages underscores Indonesia's national capacity. He made these remarks during a sacrificial ritual organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) in Jakarta.
