Indonesia, Russia Deepen Industrial Cooperation and Economic Ties

Indonesia and Russia are poised to deepen their industrial cooperation and economic ties, with Indonesian officials highlighting significant potential for economic transformation.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the partnership can bolster industrial development, downstreaming, infrastructure, energy security, digital transformation, technology, and sustainable development. He spoke at the Russian National Day celebration in Jakarta, emphasizing a commitment to exploring new cooperative opportunities.

Going forward, Indonesia-Russia cooperation has significant potential to support Indonesia's economic transformation, particularly through industrial development, downstreaming, infrastructure development, energy security, digital transformation, technology development, and sustainable development.

A significant step forward is the signing of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement in December. This agreement is anticipated to expand market access, facilitate trade, and encourage business engagement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union member states, including Russia.

Indonesia's participation as a partner country in Russia's INNOPROM industrial exhibition, set for July 6-9 in Ekaterinburg, is also a focal point. Hartarto expressed hope that this involvement will strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in areas such as trade, science, value-added manufacturing, advanced industrial technology, the automotive sector, energy, and digital innovation. The minister also affirmed Indonesia's commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Russia in line with the nation's 'Eight Visions' policy.
