Indonesia's BRIN opens internship program for university students

Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is inviting university students to participate in its internship program for the 2026/2027 academic year, with applications opening on July 2, 2026. The initiative aims to cultivate future leaders in research and innovation.

Ajeng Arum Sari, Director of Talent Management at BRIN, emphasized that the program is a strategic pathway for developing superior human resources in research. "Research talent begins with students. We hope internship participants have a passion for research and will become outstanding researchers capable of making an impact on the global stage," she stated.

The program is divided into two main schemes. The first is a research and non-research internship for diploma 4 or bachelor's students, lasting one semester or six months. The second is a research internship for final projects, open to students pursuing diplomas, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees, with durations tailored to research needs.

For the research and non-research internships, applications will be accepted from July 2 to July 17, 2026, through the BRIN ELSA system. The selection process includes administrative and substantive stages, with an announcement of accepted participants on August 5, 2026. An introductory training will follow from August 11-14, and the internship period is scheduled from August 18, 2026, to January 11, 2027. The final evaluation will take place from January 18-22, 2027.

Interns will receive guidance from BRIN researchers and have access to the agency's research facilities. BRIN will cover the funding and facilities required for the research activities. The research internship for final projects is open year-round, with selection processes conducted every three months.
