Indonesia's Customs and Excise Revenue Grows 0.7% to Rp 123.8 Trillion by End of May 2026

Indonesia's state revenue from customs and excise showed positive growth, reaching Rp 123.8 trillion by the end of May 2026. This figure represents a 0.7% increase year-on-year and accounts for 36.8% of the total state budget.

The positive performance is attributed to several factors, including a rise in tobacco product production in the first quarter, which boosted excise revenue to Rp 90.4 trillion. Import duties also saw a significant increase of 9.7%, reaching Rp 21.5 trillion, driven by higher imports of raw and auxiliary materials. However, export duties experienced a contraction of 8.9%, totaling Rp 11.9 trillion, though this decline showed signs of improvement due to strengthening crude palm oil prices.

Export duties, although contracting, are still showing improvement in line with the strengthening of CPO (crude palm oil) prices from March to May.

Beyond revenue collection, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise highlighted its role in protecting the public and the national economy. The agency reported a substantial increase in enforcement actions, with 6,880 raids against illegal cigarettes, resulting in the seizure of 865 million sticks, a 128.2% year-on-year increase. Additionally, 691 anti-narcotics operations secured 3.81 tons of illicit substances.

Budi Prasetiyo, Head of the Public Relations and Counseling Sub-Directorate, expressed gratitude to stakeholders and the public for their cooperation. He emphasized that the positive outcomes in revenue and enforcement underscore the Directorate General's commitment to safeguarding state finances, protecting citizens, and securing the national economy.
