Indonesia's Customs and Excise Revenue Grows to Rp 100.6 Trillion by April 2026

Indonesia's economy continues to demonstrate resilience amidst global economic uncertainty, with its customs and excise revenue showing positive growth. By April 2026, total revenue from this sector reached Rp 100.6 trillion, marking a 0.6% increase year-on-year and contributing 29.9% to the state budget. This performance underscores the strategic role of customs and excise in both revenue generation and national economic security.

The revenue breakdown reveals a robust increase in import duties, which grew by 6.4% to Rp 16.4 trillion. This rise is attributed to higher import duties on LPG and materials for projects. Conversely, export duties experienced a contraction of 17.5%, totaling Rp 9.3 trillion. However, recent improvements in CPO prices in March and April 2026 are expected to bolster export duty revenues.

Excise revenue also saw a positive trend, increasing by 2.2% year-on-year to Rp 74.8 trillion, primarily influenced by a rise in cigarette production during the first quarter. Beyond revenue collection, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise has actively engaged in enforcement activities. As of April 2026, they have conducted 5,451 operations against illegal cigarettes, seizing approximately 684 million sticks. Furthermore, 522 operations targeting narcotics resulted in the confiscation of 3.31 tons of illegal drugs.
