Indonesia to Distribute Second Phase of Rice Aid to 33 Million Families

The Indonesian government is set to commence the second phase of its rice aid program, distributing essential food supplies to 33.24 million beneficiary families across the nation starting in August. This initiative is a key measure to bolster food security and support citizens during the dry season.

According to the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Andi Amran Sulaiman, the aid package will cover allocations for July through September, amounting to a total volume of 997,200 tons of rice. The distribution will be managed by Perum Bulog, which will release the aid in a single, consolidated delivery.

This program is designed to help maintain the public's purchasing power and reinforce national food resilience. In addition to the direct rice aid, the government continues its Rice Price Stabilization and Supply (SPHP) program. As of July 22, 2026, the SPHP program has distributed 507,750 tons of rice, achieving 61.32 percent of its target for the March-December period.

Amran assured that national rice reserves are adequate to support these interventions. As of July 22, 2026, the government's rice reserves managed by Bulog stood at 5.24 million tons. The government's efforts to strengthen rice stocks and distribution are also contributing to price stability, with annual rice inflation showing a downward trend.
