Indonesia to Raise Visa on Arrival Fees to Up to Rp1 Million

Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration is set to significantly increase the fees for Visa on Arrival (VoA), with the price expected to rise from the current Rp500,000 to between Rp750,000 and Rp1 million. This adjustment, announced by Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko, aims to better reflect the value of the visa and encourage foreign nationals to apply online before their arrival in Indonesia.

As we know, our visa on arrival is only Rp500,000, while our fluctuating exchange rate makes it feel very small, and therefore we need adjustments related to that.

The new pricing structure will differentiate between applications made from a foreign national's home country and those processed upon arrival. Those who complete their e-VoA application online before traveling will pay Rp750,000. However, individuals applying for a VoA after landing in Indonesia will face a higher fee of Rp1 million. Marantoko explained that this tiered system is intended to streamline the immigration process at airports, preventing congestion and ensuring smoother arrivals.

So, the point is if they fill out the VoA online, besides online, they have to pay 1 million at the location, but if they fill it out in their country, they get 750 thousand.

Beyond managing airport flow, the fee increase is also expected to contribute to state revenue. As of August 10, 2026, the Immigration Directorate General had already generated Rp6.543 trillion in Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). This figure represents a 6.68 percent increase compared to the same period last year and has achieved 76.81 percent of the 2026 target, which is Rp8.519 trillion. The adjustments to VoA fees are anticipated to further bolster these earnings.

So, approximately 6.5 trillion we have generated PNBP. If we compare this with the same month in the previous year, we have experienced an increase of 6.68 percent, which is higher.
