Indonesia U-19 Advances to AFF Championship Semifinals, Awaits Group C Winner

The Indonesian U-19 national football team has officially qualified for the semifinals of the ASEAN U-19 Boys' Bank Sumut Championship 2026, also known as the AFF U-19 Championship.

The team, managed by Nova Arianto, is now waiting to learn their semifinal opponent. The contenders are Cambodia and Australia, who are set to compete for the top spot in Group C. Both teams have accumulated three points from their victories against the Philippines, but Australia currently holds the lead in the group standings due to a superior goal difference.

If Australia secures a draw against Cambodia, they will advance to face Indonesia in the semifinals. However, a victory for Australia would mean Vietnam, with three points, could potentially advance as the best runner-up to play against Thailand. A draw would be enough for Cambodia to secure four points and win the group, eliminating Vietnam.

Should Cambodia lose, they would be eliminated from the tournament. A win would see them top Group C and face Indonesia. Australia would still advance even with a loss, provided the margin is not more than five goals. While Australia is favored on paper, the unpredictable nature of youth tournaments means surprises are always possible.
