Indonesian Agency Exceeds Rice Absorption Target by 127 Percent

Perum Bulog's Bengkulu regional office has surpassed its paddy and rice absorption target for the first planting season of 2026, taking in 4,069 tons. This figure represents 127 percent of the provincial target, which was set at 3,185 tons. Bulog Bengkulu Regional Leader Dody Syahrial credited the success to robust synergy among Bulog, regional government bodies, the TNI-Polri (Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police), technical agencies, rice milling partners, and agricultural extension workers. Syahrial emphasized the crucial role of agricultural extension workers in providing timely and accurate harvest data, enabling efficient absorption efforts. Looking ahead to the second planting season, Syahrial stressed the importance of strengthening this multi-sectoral collaboration to ensure optimal absorption of all farmer yields and prevent producer losses. The initiative serves a dual strategic purpose: maintaining stable paddy prices for farmers and bolstering the government's rice reserves (CBP) to ensure food supply and price stability for the public. Syahrial expressed confidence that continued close collaboration will lead to even more optimal absorption in the upcoming season.
