Indonesian Army clarifies viral video of high-ranking officer at marathon

The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has addressed a viral video that circulated on social media, showing a high-ranking officer accompanied by an aide during the Mandiri Jogja Marathon.

The video, which appeared on several Instagram accounts, sparked claims of arrogance against the officer. However, the Head of the TNI AD Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigjen TNI Donny Pramono, explained in Jakarta that the event was a simple misunderstanding.

"We can explain that the incident was a misunderstanding that occurred on the ground between a track supervisor and the aide of Danrem 072/Pamungkas during the event," Pramono stated. He identified the high-ranking officer as Brigjen TNI Yuniar Dwi Hantono, who holds the position of Danrem 072/Pamungkas.

Pramono clarified that the officer was participating in the marathon with his wife, child, and aide. All of them were registered participants and possessed official tickets from the event organizers. The incident occurred in the Candi Prambanan area of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta.
