Indonesian cleric links NU congress to President Prabowo through numerology

At the 38th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) congress in Jombang, East Java, KH Mohammad Hasib Wahab Chasbullah, known as Gus Hasib, offered a unique perspective on the event's significance. He connected the congress to President Prabowo Subianto through a playful numerological interpretation of the dates.

Gus Hasib noted Prabowo's attendance on the 27th, calculating 2+7=9, which he identified as NU's "star." He also linked the month of August (the 8th month) and the year 2026 (2+6=8), concluding that the congress was "Prabowo's congress" due to the prevalence of the number 8. He described this method as "Tambak Beras brain-teasing science."

Representing the Bahrul Ulum pesantren family, Gus Hasib welcomed Prabowo, marking his fourth visit to Tebuireng. He also reflected on the legacy of Hadratussyaikh KH Wahab Chasbullah, a founder of NU, highlighting his role in instilling nationalism and the principle that the state and Islam, or NU, are inseparable, like the two sides of a coin.
