Indonesian Defense Minister convenes task force on illegal plantations and mining

Indonesia's Minister of Defense has brought together key officials from a task force dedicated to curbing illegal plantations and mining activities. This joint inter-ministerial unit, known as Satgas PKH, was established by Presidential Regulation No. 5 of 2025 with the specific mandate to bring order to these sectors.

The primary objective of the Satgas PKH is to recover trillions of rupiah in assets that have been illegally exploited. As the Steering Chairman of the task force, the Minister of Defense presided over a routine meeting attended by all members. The gathering took place at the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta.

Among the attendees was Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, the head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), who was present at the Ministry of Defense on Monday, July 13, 2026. The task force operates across various law enforcement agencies, highlighting the coordinated effort required to tackle the complex issue of illegal land use and resource extraction.
