Indonesian firefighters dramatically rescue baby's trapped thumb

Firefighters in Kuningan, Indonesia, successfully carried out a dramatic rescue of a 10-month-old baby whose thumb became painfully trapped in a key cover plate. The delicate operation required extreme caution from the UPT Damkar (Fire and Rescue Service) personnel.

The incident happened in Bayuning Village when the baby's mother was at work, and the child was under the care of his grandmother. While the grandmother was ironing, the toddler found a key cover plate and inserted his right thumb into the central hole. The sharp edges of the metal caused a bleeding injury, and the plate proved difficult to remove.

Upon returning home, the baby's mother rushed her child to a local hospital. However, medical staff determined they could not safely remove the plate and advised seeking assistance from the Damkar.

Firefighters responded promptly to the report. The process of carefully freeing the baby's thumb from the metal plate took about 25 minutes. The successful extraction highlights the specialized skills and careful approach of the rescue team in handling delicate situations involving young children.
