The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has officially postponed its 2027 presidential election from May to July, a decision reached during the PSSI Ordinary Congress held in Jakarta on Monday. This strategic shift aims to enhance organizational preparedness and facilitate smoother consolidation with newly elected provincial PSSI bodies.

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir explained that the rescheduling, approved by acclamation, considers the need for a buffer period following the provincial elections slated for October and November 2026. "The time was chosen considering organizational readiness, as we know we will also hold provincial PSSI elections in October and November this year," Thohir stated. He emphasized that this allows time to consolidate with the provincial PSSI for future football programs.
