Indonesian Foreign Minister Joins Six Muslim Nations in Condemning Israeli Actions at Al-Aqsa

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, alongside his counterparts from Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, has issued a strong condemnation of Israel's escalating actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The joint statement, released via social media on Friday, specifically denounced the ongoing mass incursions by Israeli settlers, often led by extremist Israeli ministers, into the holy site.

The ministers declared these actions a clear violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the established historical and legal status quo in occupied East Jerusalem. They expressed deep regret and vehemently condemned what they termed illegal and extremist incitement, calls for incursions, and violence perpetrated by Israeli ministers and extremist groups. The statement warned that such provocative acts fuel hatred and extremism, hindering efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on a two-state solution.

Furthermore, the ministers condemned the restrictions on access to the Old City of Jerusalem and its places of worship, deeming them a direct breach of international law, including international humanitarian law. They characterized these actions as an unlawful attempt to alter the historical and legal status quo. The statement unequivocally asserted that Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The group also denounced Israel's systematic violations and ongoing actions as the Occupying Power, aimed at changing the historical, legal, and demographic character of occupied East Jerusalem. They further condemned actions that undermine the sanctity and status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city.
