Indonesian House Denies Presidential Decree on Police Chief Replacement

Rumors of a potential replacement for Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo have been officially quashed by the House of Representatives' Commission III. Chairman Habiburokhman stated unequivocally that no presidential decree (Surpres) has been received concerning a new police chief, urging the public to disregard baseless speculation.

Echoing this denial, Deputy Chairman Ahmad Sahroni confirmed that the DPR has not received any such decree. Sahroni suggested that the persistent rumors might be fueled by individuals who believe the current police chief has served long enough and it's time for a change. However, he praised General Listyo Sigit Prabowo's performance, noting that while minor shortcomings are natural, his overall track record is commendable.

Sahroni expressed confidence that President Prabowo Subianto will retain Listyo Sigit as the National Police Chief until his retirement, citing his good performance. He acknowledged that internal issues or disgruntled individuals might spread rumors, but stressed that the President's decision would likely be based on merit and effectiveness.
