Indonesian Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes resigns amid police probe

Febrie Adriansyah has resigned from his post as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), a move announced by the Head of the Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, in a video statement early Saturday morning, July 11, 2026.

"Today, Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Attorney General has accepted Mr. Febrie Adriansyah's resignation from his position as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes," Anang stated. He added that the resignation demonstrates a commitment to maintaining the integrity, objectivity, and neutrality of ongoing law enforcement processes within the police.

The announcement came after rumors of Adriansyah's resignation circulated following a police search of his residence in Sentul, Bogor. The search, conducted by the National Police's Anti-Corruption Task Force and the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, was related to three investigations: alleged money laundering and bribery in the PT Asabri case, alleged corruption in coal supply causing a blackout in Sumatra, and alleged corruption at PT Krakatau Steel. Police seized 74 kilograms of gold bars and approximately 540 billion rupiah from a hidden safe during the search.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the day before the resignation announcement, Adriansyah avoided direct questions about the resignation rumors during a press conference at the Attorney General's Office in South Jakarta. He focused instead on explaining the search of his home, denying connections to a business in Cipete, and affirming the Attorney General's Office's respect for the police's investigative process. He did, however, mention receiving instructions from leadership to expedite the resolution of priority cases.
