Indonesian lawmakers highlight pilgrim welfare, service quality in Mecca

A delegation of Indonesian lawmakers visited Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in Mecca, focusing on their well-being and the quality of services provided. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sari Yuliati, stressed that the welfare of Hajj officers and the suitability of the pilgrimage for the pilgrims must not be overlooked.

Today we received several notes from the pilgrims, especially regarding the variety of food menus. Besides that, they also want attention to the welfare of the officers.

During their visit to a pilgrim accommodation, lawmakers heard concerns from pilgrims, particularly about the variety of food menus and the need for better attention to the welfare of on-the-ground Hajj officers. Yuliati assured that these inputs would be discussed in a meeting with the Amirul Hajj and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj to find swift and appropriate solutions as the peak pilgrimage period approaches.

After this, we will have a meeting with the Amirul Hajj and the Ministry of Hajj to gather the aspirations of the pilgrims, then we will discuss them together and find solutions.

Yuliati emphasized that pilgrims' sincerity in performing their worship should not be a reason to lower service quality. She stated that the state has an obligation to ensure pilgrims receive their rights adequately. "We will not tolerate anyone exploiting the sincerity of pilgrims in their worship," she asserted. The goal is to ensure pilgrims can perform their Hajj rituals comfortably and in good health, allowing them to complete their spiritual journey without hindrance.
