Indonesian Ministry to Host Regional Award for Local Government Achievements in Kalimantan

Indonesia's Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) are set to organize the 2026 Regional Achievement Award for Local Governments in the Kalimantan region on September 4. This event is part of Kemendagri's ongoing efforts to foster and oversee local governance across the archipelago.

The form of reward given by the Ministry of Home Affairs as a supervisor and overseer of local government, which has been carried out in the first batch for six regions, and this will also be given, we IPDN will be responsible for organizing it in the Kalimantan region.

IPDN Rector Halilul Khairi explained that this award ceremony is a continuation of similar events held for six other regions. Kemendagri views this as a crucial mechanism for providing recognition and rewards to local governments that excel in specific areas. The focus is on aligning local government efforts with the president's priority programs.

This year's awards will highlight achievements in four critical categories: waste management, education, health, and the successful implementation of the "three million houses" program. These areas are considered directly relevant and correlated with the president's national development agenda. Kemendagri's primary objective is to drive the maximum achievement of these presidential priorities by regional administrations.

Halilul expressed hope that the awards will serve as a significant motivator for local governments, encouraging them not only to pursue accolades but also to reaffirm their commitment to providing the best public services. The recognition is intended to inspire regional leaders and legislative councils to enhance their dedication to the community.
