Indonesian Parliament Pushes for Integrated Population Data to Combat Aid Errors

An Indonesian House of Representatives member has stressed the critical need for integrated population data to tackle inefficiencies and injustices in social aid distribution. KH Aus Hidayat Nur of Commission II pointed out that inaccurate data leads to significant inclusion and exclusion errors, where aid fails to reach those who deserve it or goes to those who do not qualify.

Nur explained that issues such as duplicate records, deceased individuals still being listed, outdated address changes, and poor inter-agency data integration all hinder the accurate delivery of social assistance. He advocated for the National Identification Number (NIK) to serve as the bedrock for integrating public services, particularly for verifying social aid recipients.

"Data inaccuracies not only lead to inefficient budgeting but also cause social injustice and erode public trust," Nur stated in a press release. He believes that leveraging Digital Population Identification (IKD) can enhance identity verification accuracy, while a unified national socioeconomic database (DTSEN) would provide a more cohesive socioeconomic data foundation.

The politician also emphasized the development of a Social Assistance Verification Ecosystem (ID-SAVE). This system would integrate the Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) data through NIK, IKD, DTSEN, data interoperability, and automated verification processes for social aid distribution.

"With NIK as the foundation, IKD to strengthen verification, and DTSEN as the integrated socioeconomic database, we want to ensure that government assistance truly reaches the rightful recipients," Nur added during an event focused on rebranding Dukcapil for social protection.
