Indonesian Police Chief Enlists Online Drivers, Pecalang for Bali Security

Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called upon online motorcycle taxi drivers and traditional Balinese security personnel, known as pecalang, to actively participate in maintaining public security and order in Bali. Prabowo emphasized that these groups are considered strategic partners of the police.

Prabowo noted that approximately 27,000 pecalang play a crucial role in maintaining security within traditional villages. He believes their presence significantly bolsters the police's efforts in ensuring community safety and order. During the event, Prabowo also received various community concerns, including issues related to parking in tourist areas and nighttime security in the Canggu region.

He instructed the Bali Regional Police to promptly follow up on these matters and find solutions, such as establishing a parking mechanism for online motorcycle taxi drivers to prevent conflicts. "Regarding parking issues, I ask the Regional Police Chief to lead discussions to reach an agreement," he added. Prabowo reiterated that Bali's security is a top priority, as it directly influences tourist confidence. He also encouraged the public to utilize the 110 emergency number to report any criminal activities in their vicinity.
