Indonesian Police, Military to Host Public World Cup Viewings

Indonesian police and the military (TNI-Polri) are collaborating to host public viewings of all 2026 World Cup matches broadcast by TVRI across the country. The initiative aims to bring entertainment to the public while simultaneously supporting local economies.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that the viewings will take place at TNI and Polri offices at all levels, from the National Police Headquarters down to sub-precinct police stations (Polsek). Prabowo highlighted that these events are expected to serve as a form of public entertainment and, crucially, to help stimulate the local economy by supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM).

Besides being a means of entertainment and togetherness for the community, Nobar Kebangsaan is also expected to have a positive impact on the regional economy through the involvement of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) around the event location.

Brigadier General Muhammad Nas, spokesperson for the TNI, added that the joint viewings are intended to build nationalistic spirit, strengthen unity and integrity, and enhance togetherness among the people. He noted that the "Nobar Kebangsaan" (National Viewing) events are a commitment by the TNI to foster positive engagement with the public through educational, inclusive, and beneficial activities. The goal is to encourage stronger social bonds, brotherhood, and a spirit of national unity in a safe and communal atmosphere.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 in 16 cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Due to the time difference, matches will be broadcast at various times in Indonesia, including early morning and evening slots.
