Indonesian police seize 27 kg of meth smuggled from Aceh

Authorities in North Sumatra have successfully intercepted a significant drug trafficking operation, seizing 27 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine originating from Aceh. The large quantity of drugs was discovered during a routine traffic stop on the Trans-Sumatra Highway in the Labuhanbatu Selatan region.

The methamphetamine, packaged in blue wrappers bearing the 'Jinyu' brand, was found concealed within the modified interior of a white Xpander Cros car. Police apprehended two individuals, identified as MI (29) and MD (30), both residents of East Aceh Regency, who were allegedly transporting the illicit substances.

According to Kombes Andy Arisandi, Director of Narcotics Investigation for the North Sumatra Regional Police, the operation began with an intelligence tip received on August 14th. The information indicated an impending drug shipment traveling from Lhokseumawe, Aceh, through North Sumatra. Following this lead, police conducted surveillance and profiling of suspected individuals.

During the subsequent search of the vehicle, officers initially found no contraband. However, a more thorough inspection revealed the hidden drugs within the car's rear paneling. The arrested suspects confessed that the methamphetamine was destined for Tangerang and that they were acting under the instructions of an individual known only as 'P', who is believed to be in East Aceh. The suspects were promised a payment of 100 million Indonesian Rupiah if the delivery was successful. Police are currently expanding their investigation to locate and apprehend 'P' and dismantle the broader network.
