Indonesian police urge online motorcycle taxi drivers to champion road safety

Indonesia's top traffic police official, Inspector General Wibowo, has called on online motorcycle taxi drivers to become leading advocates for road safety. Wibowo, head of the National Police's Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), emphasized the crucial role these drivers play in fostering a culture of traffic discipline.

Speaking at the Traffic Safety Festival held at the National Police Traffic Training Center in South Tangerang, Wibowo stated that online motorcycle taxi drivers are more than just transportation providers; they are visible representatives of road safety. He urged them to serve as role models through their disciplined riding ethics and adherence to traffic regulations.

Wibowo highlighted that the drivers are strategic partners for the traffic corps, aligning with the 'Polantas Karib' program, which aims to build partnerships that are active, responsive, intuitive, and integrity-driven in serving the public.

The Traffic Safety Festival, part of a series of events commemorating Traffic Safety Day, drew thousands of participants from the general public and various online motorcycle taxi communities across the Jabodetabek region. Wibowo expressed his hope that attendees, particularly the drivers, would leave the event not just as participants but as active agents promoting road safety.
