Indonesian University Urged to Foster Entrepreneurship and Innovation Among Students

Sesa Mareki, Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) for Central Kalimantan, has called on students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Palangka Raya University (UPR) to actively cultivate their creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. Mareki stressed the importance of these qualities as essential preparation for navigating an increasingly dynamic world.

Speaking at the opening of FKIP Expo 2026 in Palangka Raya, which carried the theme "Great FKIP UPR: Working, Innovating, and Inspiring," Mareki stated that higher education institutions have a crucial role. They should aim not only to equip students with academic competencies but also to instill the ability to identify opportunities and generate innovative ideas. He emphasized the need for young people to adapt to changing times, including the positive utilization of media and technology to enhance creativity and business development.

Mareki, who served as a keynote speaker at an inspirational talk show during the event, also visited student exhibition booths. He engaged with students about their developed products and businesses, commending their creativity. As a tangible show of support, Mareki purchased several items displayed at the expo.

He expressed hope that events like the FKIP Expo serve as vital spaces for students to hone their skills, build self-confidence, and nurture their entrepreneurial potential while still in university. "Students must dare to create, innovate, and see every opportunity available. From this process, we expect a generation of independent young people who can contribute to regional development," Mareki stated.

KPID Central Kalimantan's involvement in educational activities also aims to strengthen synergy with universities. This collaboration focuses on enhancing media and broadcasting literacy among the youth and supporting the development of creative, innovative, and productive students.
