Indramayu Family Murderer Sentenced to Death; Victim's Mother Expresses Satisfaction

A defendant, Ririn Rifanto, has been sentenced to death by the Indramayu District Court for the premeditated murder of a family of five. The court's decision on Wednesday (8/7/2026) found Rifanto guilty of participating in the planned killings and inflicting violence on a child that led to death.

Presiding judge Wimmy D Simarmata stated that the death penalty could be commuted to life imprisonment by presidential decree, following consideration by the Supreme Court, if the defendant demonstrates exemplary conduct during a ten-year probationary period. This provision offers a conditional reprieve, contingent on future behavior.

The courtroom erupted with shouts of "Allahu Akbar" and tears of relief from the victims' families and relatives following the verdict. For them, the sentence represented the culmination of a protracted fight for justice. The five victims included H Sahroni, 76; his son Budi Awaludin, 40; Budi's wife Euis Juwita Sari, 37; and their two young children, RK, 7, and B, 10 months.

Tety Setiawati, the maternal grandmother of the murdered children, expressed profound gratitude for the death sentence. She stated, "I am very satisfied" with the court's ruling, viewing it as a just outcome after the harrowing ordeal her family endured.
