INEC affirms SDP leadership after nationwide structure, membership verification

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized the current leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) following a thorough verification process. It was an eleven-member team of the INEC team that came for the verification exercise at SDP headquarters today (Tuesday). As you are aware, one of the requirements for registering a political party is that it must have a presence in at least two-thirds of the states of the federation.

The SDP National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, highlighted the extensive nature of the INEC inspection, which included a physical assessment of party leaders, scrutiny of financial records, and confirmation of the party's presence across at least two-thirds of Nigeria's states. This rigorous examination ensures that the SDP meets the constitutional requirements for registered political parties.

So, INEC came to verify the membership of our NEC to see them physically and engage with them as well as the members of the National Working Committee.
