INEC presents Certificates of Return to winners of June 20 bye-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognized the winners of recent bye-elections by presenting them with Certificates of Return. The elections, held on June 20, covered constituencies in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Kano states. The commission also announced that certificates would be issued for the Kebbi State House of Assembly Zuru Constituency election and the Ekiti State governorship election.

INEC's Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, May Agbamuche-Mbu, presented the certificates on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan. She congratulated the newly elected officials, emphasizing their primary responsibility to serve their constituents diligently and ensure their interests are well-represented. The issuance of these certificates officially affirms the candidates as the duly elected winners of their respective races.

National Commissioners representing the specific constituencies also presented certificates to the elected candidates, formally confirming their victories. The process underscores the finalization of the electoral process for these bye-elections, paving the way for the newly elected officials to assume their duties.
