Infantino acknowledges errors, apologizes for FIFA investment plan

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has issued an apology for procedural errors in the creation of the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) investment scheme, which aimed to sell stakes in the World Cup to private entities. The apology came after a crisis meeting in Rabat, Morocco, following the leak of the plans to the media.

We acknowledge that mistakes were made in the process of establishing FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). It was certainly not the intention that FIFA Council and FIFA's member organizations should feel excluded from the process, and it should have been handled differently.

In a letter obtained by Sky News, Infantino acknowledged that the FIFA Council and member organizations should not have felt excluded from the process. He admitted that mistakes were made both in the establishment of the FFE and after its proposal was leaked. "We sincerely apologize for these mistakes, and we commit to not letting it happen again," the letter stated.

The organization emphasized its continued full support for Infantino. The proposal to allow the purchase of shares in FIFA tournaments has been officially withdrawn. FIFA declared that with the project now shelved, it will not tolerate attacks on its integrity, good governance, or decision-making processes and will take all necessary steps to safeguard its name and reputation.
