Influencer verbally attacks priest over wedding costs in Greece

Tensions flared at a wedding preparation in Varympompi, Greece, over the weekend when a 39-year-old influencer and former reality TV contestant verbally assaulted a priest. The incident occurred as the influencer accompanied her 33-year-old friend, who was to be the godmother at the ceremony held at a local estate.

According to reports, the influencer engaged in a heated argument with the 63-year-old priest regarding the costs associated with the ceremony and reception. The priest was explaining the financial obligations, including fees for the clergy and operational costs, which typically range from 100 to 300 euros for the priest and chanters, and 100 to 500 euros for operational expenses.

The situation escalated when the influencer, after being denied a discount on the reception venue in exchange for social media promotion, turned her aggression towards the priest. Witnesses reported that she spoke to him in a demeaning tone, asking, "Do you know who I am? Just by being at the wedding, you and the estate will become known, the channels will play it, don't you dare ask us for money again."

The priest responded that advertising was not relevant to the church and that the same rules applied to everyone. This further enraged the influencer, who witnesses say raised her voice, insulted the priest, and threatened to record him, shouting, "You'll see what I'll do to you, the whole of Greece will see this disgrace."

The incident was de-escalated by the estate owner. The priest stated he would consider legal action due to the offense he suffered. The wedding proceeded with a different priest, called by the godmother.
